Cooking Again! (Day 5)

Hi everybody,

As you probably have realized, I haven't been cooking for a while. Well that all changed when a couple of days ago, I went to a birthday party at the School of Culinary Arts here in Vancouver. There we made one of the best pastas I have ever had.

Today, I decided to make it. Using their recipe, I have so far made the dough. When I get back from the movie I am going to see today, I will put the pasta through the machine and prepare the sauce. Today's sauce will be the same as the fennel sauce I used in Day 4 as that was such a big hit.

Problems with making the pasta dough (I always end up having problems): This time the first batch of pasta dough was great. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it to. Unfortunately, just as the first batch was finishing, what I thought was a food processor started smoking. I decided to set it aside and use my hands to mix the dough for the second batch. But, as I should have known, that didn't work. I don't really know what I did to my pasta, but we will have to wait and see.

Actually after my failed second batch, my mom came down and told me that the thing that was smoking wasn't actually a food processor. No wonder it started to smoke!

I'll post my, hopefully great, results tonight or tomorrow. Check the "My Easy Recipes" Page for the recipe on Pasta Dough.

Noodles! (haha get it? Toodles, Noodles?!?!?)

Day 4

Hi,

Today is day 4 as you know and I made a delicious lunch for my family. I made a Linguine, like an alio e olio but with fennel. I made it all by myself except Lydia, my nanny, had to slice the fennel because it was very tough and poured the spaghetti because it was too heavy for me. In the end it was amazing even though I used the wrong side of the knife to chop the fennel fronds and took forever to figure out what a quart was. I also minced the garlic and grated the lemon zest. I measured all the ingredients, stirred the pot and added the water, I grated the cheese and I did everything by myself except for the things that Lydia did. I also made an incredible pink lemonade. Yum yum yum!

Hello,

Today, I started this blog (I am 10). Although I started my summer cooking on Tuesday. On

Day 1:

On Tuesday I made Strawberry milkshakes! First I had to clean the strawberries and cut them up and learn how to remove the tops from them. Then, I put it in a blender and had yummy stuff!

Day 2:

The next day I woke up and put a piece of bread into a toaster and then I waited and then it popped up, so I took it and put it on a plate and served it with Peanut Butter and Pro-mite on top.

Day 3:

Today, my friend Loritta (13) and I made three things: tuna salad sandwich, a mediterranean potato salad, and a strawberry slush for the drink. We started with the potato salad. I got to cut and wash the potatoes. Loritta taught me how to wash them. We boiled the potatoes and then made the dressing. After that, we mixed it together and started on the sandwiches. I got to toast the bread and cut the chives and celery, then we mixed the filling; then, we put the sandwiches together. We made the strawberry slush last. I got to cut the strawberries. Then, we set the table, took some photos, then ate. It was sooooooooooo good:)

Tomorrow is Day 4.

Bridget and Loritta:)
